We recognise that living in a shared house can come with its own challenges, this is why at Star students we work with our tenants to provide guidance on our expectations when nearing the end of there tenancy.

Maintaining a clean and organised environment not only provides you with a sense of accomplishment but will set you up for leaving the property in its best condition and increasing your chances of a full deposit return.

Throughout the year we will conduct two management visits, during these visits we will provide you with advice on areas we feel need your attention. It is good to take this on board at the early stages of your tenancy.

Here are some top tips for when you are getting ready to vacate:

· Create a cleaning rota, cleaning is time consuming and leaving all the work to one housemate is unfair. Remember we expect the property to be returned to the same standard as when you moved in. Use your inventory as a guide!

· Organise and get on top of your waste, waste management is key during this transition. This will give you the opportunity to see cleaning areas that may have been missed.

· Take advantage of the university programme “Students on the move”, they will offer you extra bin collection dates outside of your council days.

· Replace any missing or damaged keys at a local locksmiths, be sure to include the keysafe key.

· Once you feel like you are ready to leave, go back through your inventory again, go room by room and check the overall condition. There is no limit on the amount of cleaning you can do.

Star Students are here to help you. our ultimate goal is to ensure the property is returned in an acceptable condition.
